In Japan, until almost 100 years ago, people lived a self-sufficient life. But after that, food and agriculture were divided by the modernization and globalization of a food distribution system. Since around 1970 Japanese CSA (teikei) has started as a first attempt to joint food and agriculture. And that was succeeded by into farmers’markets and allotment (community) gardens. The purpose of this paper is to clarify the relations of the above dividing process through the perspective of personal eating behavior and the motivation to joint food and agriculture. This research analyze a life history of certain person whose family was a farmer and who got a job as system engineer (1970) and come back to farm (2012) and to earn a living by teaching consumers how to plant vegetables. As a result: a frugal, but sufficient eating habits of the farmhouse where their meals were united with agriculture has led a strong and fundamental motivation for jointing action.
