The subject student was a first grader attending special support school because of severe intellectual disabilities. The student was clumsy in his motor movements, fell down easily, and was unable to write letters or connect lines. In addition, his mother was concerned about his habit of clapping when he felt excited or happy. The student was treated using the Dohsa-hou intervention package for eighteen sessions. The treatment package comprised the Dohsa-hou, catch ball, a joint-action routine, and the shaping of verbal requests with toys and emotional exchange play. As a result of the intervention using this package, the subject was able to form verbal requests during the role-play, his exchange of two- or threeword sentences increased, and the number of appropriate utterances in the joint-action routine increased. Further, the time required for the student to walk up and down stairs decreased in comparison to the recorded baseline. The student\u0027s clapping behavior also reduced as his narrative verbal behavior improved.
