<datacite:description xml:lang="en" descriptionType="Other">This case study is undertaken as one of the practical researches in art appreciation for the primary school children. In this study, we selected as a subject of art appreciation Harue KOGA's "A Naive Moonlit NIght" which is well-known as one of the most successful works ever executed by KOGA. The main theme of this practice of art appreciation is placed on making a story by each child through appreciating KOGA's "A Naive Moonlit Night". The chief objective of this practice is to emancipate children's imagination by means of encouraging them to create stories from the fragments of KOGA's strange world of imagination. First, children are given fragments of an image, which consist of 19 pieces cut out from KOGA's "A Naive Moonlit Night" and required to reconstruct the former whole image by KOGA. We call this operation "Restoration Play". Before children begin to work, we let them expect what image is to be restored finally. Secondly, we have them compare the image they expect to have with the original image of KOGA which they get by means of restoration. Thirdly, after being given a brief explanation about the painter and his painting, children are required to pick up 3 pieces and make a story by combining 3 fragmentary images. Fourthly, children write down their stories on their worksheets and exchange ideas each other.</datacite:description>
