Particularly, there was a large number of students who had difficulty answering opinion questions freely. In consideration of this situation, a new course of study, which is to be implemented from 2013, emphasizes thinking ability, decision making, and the ability of expression. From now on, the development of critical reading strategies and skills is　also needed in English education as wells as Japanese language education.
