In Chaucer's prose, however, the Simple Reflexive is overwhelmingly dominant, occupying 81%. In Chaucer, reflexive verbs and intransitive verbs almost always co-occur with the Simple Reflexive, while a considerable number of transitive verbs take both reflexives.
