Depressive symptoms in particular are common among many youths who have experienced abuse. However, certain factoes can mitigate future depressive symptoms during the transition from childhood to youth. This study focused on psychological mindedness（PM） as a buffer factor for the relationship between abusive experience in childhood and depressive symptoms in youth, and explored the effect of PM on this relationship. A total of 291 university students（men = 88, women = 200, other gender = 3） completed a questionnaire containing items in abusive experiences in childhood, current depressive symptoms, and PM. The results of structural equation modeling showed that abusive experiences in childhood had a direct influence on future depressive symptoms. However, it was found that PM would mitigate the development of depressive symptoms in youth. Additionally, the result of a simultaneous multiple-group analysis indicated the effect gender difference had on the structure of the model and showed that the Interest factor of PM has a mitigating effect on depressive symptoms only among men.
