| 内容記述 | This paper illustrates what the future of town development should be by examining the origin and efforts of neighborhood community associations that have local communities as their base in Minamata City, Kumamoto Prefecture, as well as such things as the characteristic features and direction of town development. Research methods used involve discussing the changes in the administrative districts in Minamata City and examining how the characteristics of each area have influenced neighborhood communitiy associations and town development efforts. While describing the proactive efforts of community residents, the importance of town development utilizing the unique features and natural resources that local communities have in order for local communities to realize sustainable development is pointed out. In addition, the concept of what a local community should be like varies depending on the community. It is believed that in the future, flexible efforts that are suited to the actual situation of each individual community will be needed. | |||||
