This study introduced an activity in which students objectively recorded and analyzed games in physical education basketball classes for second-year junior high school students, and examined its effects. Over a ten-lesson unit, a learning process was designed that incorporated game electrocardiograms as recording activities, strategy planning, and reflection, enabling students to identify tasks autonomously and work collaboratively to solve them. As a result, significant improvements were observed in decision-making ability and the quality of support actions, and formative and summative lesson evaluations also confirmed increases in students’ motivation and cooperative attitudes. These findings suggest that activities in which students objectively review games and share issues with peers contribute to realizing active, interactive, and deep learning. On the other hand, descriptions related to the recording activity did not become firmly established, and improvements in tactical knowledge were not confirmed. This indicates that there is room to improve the mechanisms linking recording activities with gameplay. This study demonstrated the effectiveness of incorporating observation and recording activities during non-participation into the learning process, and clarified the necessity of expanding this approach to other ball games and grade levels in order to construct a more generalizable lesson design. |
