| 内容記述 | This research paper presents a qualitative case study on the practical remote process of education implemented to a middle school student referred in this study as “S” who became a truant during the COVID-19 pandemic. This practical study was designed to foster the student's self-regulation and autonomous ability through remote process of education with the ultimate goal of his returning to school. The concrete method of remote education was directed by a collaborative support team composed of teachers, parents, and researchers, who provided consistent and respectful assistance to the realization of S's will. The study successfully guided S from a state of complete absence from interpersonal relationship to gradually participating in online classes and finally returning to face-to-face attendance to the class. As with his academic performance, he showed gradual growing of academic competence shown by significant improvement of several subjects' performance as in English or Science. The findings suggest that remote education can be an effective tool for supporting truant students, particularly when it was structured to respect their will and give way to strategic implementation with supportive communication from the external assistance to the promotion of self-decision and action. Acknowledging the limitation of this practical study being a single-case study, the paper demonstrates the potential possibility of this approach to enhance student self-regulation of academic learning and to guide toward step-by-step recovery from truancy. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
