| 内容記述 | Objective: Here, we sought to clarify the patient education used by certified nurse specialists in chronic care nursing utilizing the health belief model to promote behavioral change in patients with heart failure. Methods: Four certified nurse specialists were interviewed using semi-structured interviews. The content of these interviews was analyzed qualitatively and descriptively.Results: Five categories emerged from the data analysis. Certified nurse specialists assessed the risk of heart failure recurrence and determined whether improving self-care is effective for the condition as a basis for influencing patient behavioral change. They began by organizing the patient’s health beliefs and seeking the right timing to engage whilst building rapport. In addition, capturing and approving changes in behavior allowed determining when to work with patients. Furthermore, organizing and distancing their health beliefs within this cycle promoted long-term behavioral changes. Subsequently, they repeatedly worked to assess the patient’s psychological state, enhance their perception of the threat of heart failure and the benefits of heart failure management behaviors, and incorporate this in heart failure management actions. This process led to identifying and acknowledging behavioral changes. Furthermore, they collaborated with other professionals, thereby obtaining multidisciplinary support for situations that they could not sufficiently address alone, thereby conducting patient education within a multidisciplinary team. Conclusion: Certified nurse specialists observed the psychological state of patients to determine the optimal timing for engagement, organized patients’ health beliefs, and worked to encourage behavioral change in patients with heart failure. It is necessary to clarify the effects of irrational cognition gained from experience regarding patient behavior, and the required patient education, alongside health beliefs, which are conscious rational cognitions that influence heart failure management behaviors. | |||||||||||||||||
