| 内容記述 | The fruits of Capsicum annuum L. (the name of the Oriental orthodox medicine: "蕃椒") has been used for spice and also traditional Oriental medicine. The fruits have also been adapted to folk remedies for dropsy, colic, diarrhea, asthma, arthritis, muscle cramps, and toothache. As a medicinal plant, the Capsicum species has been used as a carminative, digestive irritant, stomachic, stimulant, rubefacient, and tonic. As rapid transformation of the environment and the food intake in our life, the lifestyle relate to disease, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, diabetes, obesity, arteriosclerosis and cardiopathy, continuously increase. The Capsicum plants have been successfully used in traditional Oriental medicine empirically. The red hot pepper C. annuum L. have been mainly used in Kimchi. Now its consumption is expanding worldwide owing to various functional properties such as anti-carcinogenic and anti-oxidative activities. Recently, in our laboratory quite novel acyclic diterpene glycosides, named capsianosides, were found from the fruits of C. annuum L. This finding for rare naturally occurring compounds has prompted to further study for other related plants and phamacognogical test. Hence, I have designed to perform the investigation of other species of C. annuum L. I have gotten several evidence concerning the chemical constituents of these herbal medicines as follows. |
