It is believed that further improvement may succeed by microstructure modification, because Pr2O2SO4 from heating the corresponding sulfate has low specific areas (< 10 m2・g-i). Template-assisted synthesis is a general route to increase the surface areas of the resultant product as stated above. Additionally, the attempt to introduce cerium to Ln2O2SO4 is also conducted, aiming at lowering the operation temperature and increasing the rate of oxygen storage/release.
