日々大量に排出される廃棄物のなかでも、ガラスびんは洗浄後再び使われるリターナブルびんと、破砕され『カレット』というびん原料になるワンウェイびんに分かれている。しかし、リターナルびんが99%再利用されているのに比べ、ワンウェイびんのカレット利用率は65%にとどまっている。この低い利用率の原因は様々あるが、その一つに生成コストが上げられる。\n
