| 内容記述 | As described above, overloading ofcholesterol to macrophages may induce formation of small, ER-derived vesicles, perhaps by an unknown ER fragmentation process. In the current work, we further examined the ACAT1 translocation process in cholesterol loaded macrophages, and made the surprise finding that a significant amount of these ACAT1-positive, ER-derived vesicles are also closely associated with LE/LS, and this special LE/LS serves efficient cholesterol esterification in loco. We also provide clinical relevance of these findings by demonstrating the differential associations of ACAT1 with LE/LS in normal and in foamy transformed macrophages in vivo. | |||||||||
