を強く発現する後腎間葉には多能性のネフロン前駆細胞が存在する。この発現様式を利用して、薬剤(タモキシフェン)によって誘導可能なCre リコンビナーゼ(CreERT2)をSall1 遺伝子座に挿入したマウス(Sall1CreERT2)を作成した。これをCre が活性化するとYFP(yellow fluorescent protein)が発現するマウスと交配し、さらにタモキシフェンを胎生期に投与するとSall1 が内在性\nに発現する後腎間葉、四肢、中枢神経でYFP が検出された。またSall1 のエクソンをloxP ではさんだマウスと交配してタモキシフェンを投与した場合、Sall1 の発現が顕著に減尐し小さい腎臓しか形成されなかった。よってSall1CreERT2
