| 内容記述 | The purpose of this study is to analyze the driving forces behind motives to exploit Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for revitalizing regional economies. The results of this economic analysis show that there are three economic drivers distinctively influencing these motives. The first driver is based on the human being's physiological needs to sustain economic activities in regional areas such as profit-seeking. These needs are commonly known as physiological drives, and it is taken as a starting point for regional economies. Once the motives of the first driver are fulfilled, the second driver emerges to satisfy other needs in relation to safety and security of our society. This shifts the motives to adapt Information and Communication Technologies for enriching regional economies and environment. Finally, the third driver is recognized as the self-actualization need. These basic human needs for using ICT are organized into a hierarchy of relative prepotency. One main implication of this phrasing is that gratification becomes as important a concept as deprivation in motivation theory, for it releases the organism from the domination of a relatively more physiological need, permitting thereby the emergence of other more social goals. | |||||
