| 内容記述 | Donald Davidson assumed that actions are a subclass of events but Paul Grice claimed against him that actions are not a subclass of events. Why is the notion of action to be distinguished from that of event? Now reconsider it. Supposedly Grice assumed the following three reasons for it. 1)The cause of action is not the belief and desire which precede the action but the person who does the action. 2)It is the end and intention aimed at through the action that is crucial in exerting action, not what is actually done, nor what is actually executed or achieved, nor what really occurs. 3)It is the conception of rational selection and valuation, of intention and end, and the concept of freedom that are important for the theory of action. | |||||||||||
