They usually think over their own positions in a certain situation and decide their actions accordingly. The author considers this type of actions higher self-direction rather than controlled actions by others. On the other hand, the Chinese are keen to their own thoughts and sentiments. They are, on the whole, carefree about their own positions in surrounding situations. This analytical framework, I believe, provides a penetrating views of basic behavioral principles and behavior patterns in both society, for instance, Japanese considerate and reserved manners and Chinese frank and self asserting expressions. This Cultural differences are apt to cause deep misunderstandings between the Japanese and the Chinese., In this paper, the author also analyzes confusions, that is, possible psychological confusions in persons who started understanding the other culture, and also awkward disparities between those who started realizing the meaning of the other culture and those who do not.
