The main object of this report is to investigate the actual conditions of the physique and physical strength of school children and students in Kyushu district.Data were obtained from the annual reports of the 1982-83 fiscal year by the boards of education in the eight prefectures.The results of this investigation indicate that the school children and students in the southern Kyushu including Miyazaki and Kagoshima Prefectures are on a lower level in physique and exceed in physical strength as compared with that of other prefectures.In the two prefectures of Kumamoto and Nagasaki, there are marked declines in the physical strength of the third grade students of junior high schools and the first grade students of senior high schools.It is feasible that the current system of entrance examinations for senior high schools have some effects upon their pysical strength. |
