The Death Anxiety Scale was administered before and after eight class sessions at Kumamoto University (8×100 minutes) and the YMCA Special School (8×90 minutes). Through the Scale, the attitudes of 49 university and 37 special school students were examined. Students obtained Death Anxiety Scale mean scores (±SD) of 7.76 (±2.77) and 11.08 (±2.11) respectively and the pretest to posttest decrease was 0.64, 0.16 respectively (t-test, NS) . The percentage of students whose attitude toward death become more positive was 44.2%, the percentage whose attitude had not changed was 39.5%, and the percentage who avoided any mention of death was 16.3%. The aim of death education and a method of evaluation were
