I find that TSK is expressed in the CMZ in the chick and the CB and the SVZin the mouse eye and brain, where neuronal stem/progenitor cells proliferation and differentiation are controlled by Wnt signaling. These results indicate that TSK is an important component of the stem/progenitor cells niche in the adult mammalian CB, controlling stem/progenitor cells proliferation by modulatingWnt signaling. In adult mammalian brain, stem/progenitor cellsare located in the SVZ and the SGZ. TSK is strongly expressed in the SVZ and the SGZfrom neonate to the adult stages. Neuralcell types are well studied in the SVZ. To investigate which cell express TSK, I performed immunohistchemical detection and find the TSK expression in asingle layer of ependymal cells lining the ventricular cavity. Cell proliferation in the SVZ of TSK-/- brain is increased comparing to the control mouse.
