| 内容記述 | A study of oligomers with the repeating unit of an ester of 4，4'-dihydroxybiphenyl and diacids was performed to provide information on the relations of the flexible segments with liquid crystalline properties of oligomers. The oligomers were separated into single components. The monomer BnB and dimer(Bn)_2B and trimer (Bn)_3B were obtained. The data for oligomers of n=6 shows that liquid crystalline phase becomes easy to appear with increasing degree m. (B6)_3B displays enantiotropic-and (B6)_2B monotropic-nematic phase. The crystal-isotropic transition entropies of dimers were expressed as follows;⊿S_KI=20.0n+33.l(J/mol・K). The value per methylene unit，10.0J/mol・K, is close to 9.91 of polyethylene. A phase transition entropy ratio, ⊿S_NI/⊿S_KI, of (B6)_3B is 0.15，the degree of order in its nematic phase，is suggested to be as high as that of the polymeric liquid crystals. | |||||
