Researchers tend to focus on problems or deficits and to face the challenge of finding and creating solutions. PD believes that solutions lie in the community from the asset-based viewpoint. However, such solutions, being away from the standard or the usual, are deviant and latent in the community. The deviant appreciates better outcomes not due to the better access to resources and should rather have as limited resources as the others do. Others can follow the deviant because s/he is in a similar situation with limited resources. PD tries to identify what the deviant is doing and to amplify it across the community.
