For them, the love and affection from and to their mothers become a crucial factor in their mental growth. This paper focuses on the development of two daughters' identities though love relationships with their mothers. We will examine the characteristics of love and emotions between mother and daughter. Focusing on two stages, before and after adolescence, we will see the distinguishing features, direction, and quantity, and changes of love between mother and daughter. By comparing the two daughters in these works, we will come to realize that the big difference lies in the sense of distance from their mothers.}, pages = {55--71}, title = {Love Relationships between Mother and Daughter in Beloved and Annie John}, volume = {2}, year = {2009} }
