It seems that it was made under the influence of hymns that were introduced by Christian missionaries and based on the music theory that was taught by the employed foreign teachers at the Tokyo Ongaku Gakkou. The Ministry of Education was in charge of the committee of the editorial department in those days. In the beginning of the Showa era, the Shin-Tei Jinjo Shougaku Shouka（New Revised Primary School Songs）greatly changed the accompaniment scores.
