The purpose of this study was to examine the validity of a “pull-apart basin model”in aiding lower secondary school children to acquire the concept of lateral fault in their science study. This model was developed to help the children easily visualize the concept of lateral fault and understand it intuitively when manipulating the teaching materials. Lower secondary school students, after learning the character of lateral fault topography, identified the location of lateral faults using topography maps. A sampling of lateral fault topography encourages them to be aware of natural disasters and their prevention.}, pages = {317--323}, title = {なぜ, 人吉盆地は急峻な九州山地の中に位置しているのか? : プルアパートベイズンの教材開発}, volume = {62}, year = {2013}, yomi = {アカホシ, マサノリ and フクモト, ヨシヒロ} }
