This study focuses on the ‘Victorian’ long dress of the Herero, influenced by the clothing of German women who settled in Namibia in the 19th century. Although the long dress is worn as a traditional garment or an icon of cultural identity, Herero women also enjoy wearing it as fashion. I present four beauty aspects of the long dress - pastoral, metropolitan, German-origin and national - through four long dress fashion shows held in Namibia and Germany. Furthermore, I clarify that the long dress has improvised, unpredictable creativity reflecting the variable tastes of the Herero living in the modern world as well as the perceptions of the Namibians or Germans.}, pages = {129--151}, title = {ナミビア・ヘレロのロングドレスにおける美の諸相 : 4つのヘレロ・ファッションショー}, volume = {12}, year = {2014} }
