 note = {application/pdf, 論文(Article), “ai v bu v” is a common construction of a colloquial expression in modern Chinese，
being frequently used and having special semantic meaning. This paper divides them into
two categories， the type of “ai li bu li” and of “ai lai bu lai”. These two types share the same
syntactic form but are different in syntax， semantics and pragmatics， and they have different
origins. The type of “ai li bu li” derived from the construction “dai v bu v” which was used in
the Ming and Qing dynasties， with the word “ai” taking the place of its synonym “dai” in the
construction “dai v bu v ”. The type of “ai lai bu lai” is the contraction of the complex sentence
“愛來就來，不愛來就不來”， and was affected by a special rhetorical method named “互文” in
ancient Chinese.},
