H. Lawrene's essay \"The Novel and the Feelings\" are equivalent to what Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari or Michael Hardt and Antonio Negri call affects. Affects for them and feelings for Lawrence are different from emotions: while emotions are contained in subjectivity, feelings or affects, which are the power to affect the world and the power to be affected by it, involve both mind and body.
