| 内容記述 | The debate between reason internalism and externalism concerns whether or not agents should act on a reason which they are not disposed to recognize as normative based on their already held desires. I insist that we could not find the way to reconcile the dispute between internalism and externalism, because we have not sufficiently taken the motivations of each camp into consideration. In this paper, I establish an internalism which contains externalism's motivations: desires aren't reasons and reasons are linked to one another independently of desires. This is argued in two steps; first introducing a distinction between reasons and background conditions, showing that in most cases desires are not reasons. Second the relationship between reasons is explained in terms of thick concepts and the notion of thick concepts is compatible with internalism. Adopting this strategy, internalism upholds its core claim and also satisfies the intuitions behind externalism. | |||||||||||
