To do so, Hartling practices a method that breaks with the assumptions of biography and historical fiction, that of the self-referential narrator of subjectivity and fictionality, and produced important results in the exploration of the possibilities of the narrative. However, a strong attachment to motherhood and a problematic tendency to uncritically follow traditional views of the family should also be recognized.
