For example, the Korean Residents Union in Japan is criticized due to its excludability of Japanese-Korean mixed people. However, considering that there are still participants today, the ethnic organizations are significant for Koreans living in Japan. Therefore, this paper clarifies the contemporary significance of ethnic organizations by examining process that Koreans living in Japan participate in them. There are three findings in this paper. First, ‘experience of hardship’ and ‘isolation’ are relevant to participation in ethnic organizations. Second, the contemporary significance of ethnic organizations is playing the role of ‘hubs’ for Koreans living in Japan.
