内容記述 | This paper provides an overview of the introduction of Su Manshu in Japan from the late 1920s to the 1930s, revealing Sato Haruo’s particularly profound understanding in his introductions. While many contemporaries emphasized Su Manshu’s Japanese lineage, Sato Haruo diverged from this notion in `Who Is Su Manshu?' by positioning Su Manshu as a wanderer with nonationality. Sato Haruo’s profound understanding of Su Manshu was influenced partly by the discussions on Su Manshu by Chinese writers such as Liu Yazi, Lu Xun, and Zhou Zuoren, but his perspective was mainly underpinned by the anxiety over identity embedded in both of their literary works. Furthermore, Sato Haruo regarded himself, Su Manshu, and Western impressionist poets like Baudelaire as descendants of the ancient Chinese poet Li Changji, thereby demonstrating Sato Haruo’s attitude of embracing literature from various countries as “world literature” transcending national boundaries. | |||||||||||
