| 内容記述 | Previously, we reported that the practice using rock shells is useful for environmental education. In the practice, the precise distinction of the sex of rock shells is very important. Thus, in the present study, to obtain the information about a suitable period for collection of rock shells inhabiting in Kumamoto harbor, we examined the maturity of their ovary. The maturity of the ovary in female rock shells was observed during periods from end of May to the beginning of September. Furthermore, since a high occurrence of imposex was newly found in a several harbor of Kumamoto coastal waters, it is likely that the contamination of organotin compounds still remains at hazardous levels in the harbor. |
