The purpose of this paper was to describe the relationship between quality of nursing care and clinical competency among three hundred and fifty-two nurses, who consented to this study. The questionnaires of Six-Dimension Scale of Nursing Performance (6-DS) and Questionnaire of nursing care quality were used. As a result, there was significant relationship between clinical competency and quality of nursing care. And the item of leadership and critical care in 6-DS were related to confidence and behavior as nurses in the questionnaire of quality of nursing care. These items were considered to be educated in undergraduate program. On the other hand, capabilities of education, planning and communication, professional development were not related to the year of clinical experience. These abilities needed to be developed in another way. Furthermore, clinical competency of nurses who had clinical experience more than 10-year was significantly related to the area of support for patients and to provide adequate environment for patients to recover. These results were considered from the view of professional development and education. |
