| 内容記述 | The purpose of this research is to study the characteristics of family support and parenting education in the United States in order to obtain some suggestions for parenting support in Japan. Specifically, the programs and services which Family Service of Santa Monica provides for children and families are considered as a case. Family Service of Santa Monica is a non-profit organization established in 1925 in California State and it provides a broad range of programs and services to families and children, for example, counseling to address various kinds of family issues, Cal Safe, a program being developed to provide comprehensive services to pregnant and parenting teens, the Reflective Parenting Program, which consists of 10 weekly sessions, and so on. The suggestions I obtained are as follows： （1） It is necessary to provide a variety of programs and services for various needs of families in flexible ways, and it is important to provide parenting groups in which parents help one another, as well as packaged programs by professionals； （2） It is important to provide comprehensive programs and services, especially for high-risk families； （3） Programs and Services based on schools are considerably effective, because it is easier for parents to access support services through schools； （4） Both quality and quantity of professional staff is important, and establishment of professional roles and increase in number of professionals are required, especially in Japan； （5） It is necessary to provide parenting programs and parenting support which empower and help parents to play the parent role positively, although the effectiveness of parenting programs should be considered carefully. | |||||||||||
