| 内容記述 | Recently, collaborative planning is often mentioned as one of the most appropriate planning theories in relation to the complex society owing to its focus on creating fair and inclusive institutional settings for deliberations among diverse stakeholders with different interests and values. Even though this theoretical framework discusses potential outcomes, the actual effects of collaborative planning processes are notably overlooked in the literature. Often, contemporary public problems have a wicked structure with extensively intertwined issues. Of course, solving such complex issues can’t be resolved by only conventional and unilinear solution. Recently, the planning theorists are developing a system of theory and practices to address complex public problems in relationship to theories of various disciplines in social science and natural science. In this paper, I would like to discuss about the evolution of planning theories in the United States, which has influenced theoretical studies and practices of consensus building, and conflict resolution in public policy decision making. Especially, I will focus on potential and challenges of collaborative planning, arguing on features and criteria may be used to determine the best course for a desirable collaboration. |
